Human Again

Joy Anonymous is the brainchild of Henry Counsell, a collective encompassing music, live events and the deeper mission of bringing people together over lockdown. Henry and his production / creative partner Louis Curran started out delivering a series of spontaneous performances at London’s South Bank: soon, the sight of two silhouettes in camping chairs on the Thames beach evolved from just passing strangers into a genuine movement, all brought together via Joy Anonymous’ love of connection, community, and dance culture. This is vividly captured in Joy Anonymous’ first project, Human Again: a genre-spanning body of work, whose elements of house, soul, disco and pop has seen them earn early co-signs from the likes of Fred Again Fred Again and The Blessed Madonna The Blessed Madonna. Capturing the collective’s innate spontaneity – field recordings of their now-legendary parties can be heard throughout the record – Human Again is as much a poignant time-capsule of what it means to be alive right now as it is a future-soundtrack for good times to come.
