The third release is the yet another classic, “Metal Guru”, originally released in May 1972, a second preview of the forthcoming album “The Slider”, and these days amongst Marc Bolan’s best remembered songs.

It was the band’s fourth UK number 1, where it stayed for four weeks (spending fourteen weeks in the charts in total). It knocked The Pipes and Drums and The Military Band of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ “Amazing Grace” off the top spot, and was itself replaced by Don McLean’s “Vincent”.
