Leeds rockers Caskets sport a melodic, synth-heavy sound combining elements of post-hardcore and emo with a poppy edge. The band was formed, originally under the name Captives, in 2018 by bassist Chris McIntosh and guitarist Benji Wilson, who had played together in other bands in the local scene. Viewing their new project as a "supergroup" of sorts, they recruited the very best players they could find: vocalist Matt Flood, guitarist Craig Robinson, and drummer James Lazenby. The members' musical tastes had been variously influenced by pop-punk, emo, and pop-metal bands like blink-182, Green Day, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance, and Linkin Park. Swiftly releasing the "Ghost Like You" EP and gigging extensively, they quickly built a loyal following and a large online listenership.
