A second-generation member of Hollywood's pre-eminent musical dynasty, Grammy-winning composer Thomas Newman has carried on his family's legacy through a series of Academy Award-nominated film scores. A versatile craftsman whose styles span electro-acoustic rock, intimate chamber music, whimsical orchestral fare, lush majesty, homey folk, playful jazz, and jittery electronic ambience, Newman made his feature-length debut in 1984 with the romantic comedy Reckless. His first of over a dozen Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score came a decade later with 1994's The Shawshank Redemption and Little Women, both nominated in 1995.
