Formerly known as Idle Hands, Unto Others is a West Coast goth-metal outfit that also traffics in elements of old-school heavy metal, new wave, and post-punk. The group was founded in 2017 by singer/songwriter Gabriel Franco after the dissolution of his former band, Spellcaster. Inspired by early goth adopters like Sisters of Mercy, the Cure, and Héroes del Silencio, they issued their debut EP, Don't Waste Your Time, in 2018, shortly after inking a deal with Germany-based Eisenwald Records. Mana, the group's first full-length effort, appeared the following year and was supported by an American and European tour, including a 45-day stint opening for King Diamond. An extension of their debut EP, Don't Waste Your Time II arrived in 2020, as did the announcement that they would be adopting the moniker Unto Others in light of a trademark issue concerning the name Idle Hands. The following year saw Unto Others sign to Roadrunner and unveil the singles "When Will God's Work Be Done," "Downtown," and "No Children Laughing Now."
