Creeping Jean are a rip-roaring young rock ’n’ roll band from Brighton, UK.
Celebrating their high-street heritage, Creeping Jean have always been open about funding their band from the revenue they make selling second-hand retro clothes. Their first album (When’s The Blowout) was funded by the sale of 2000 pairs of second-hand Converse. Their second album (Business Is Dead) was funded by sales of half a ton of second-hand leather jackets.
For this very special Record Store Day release, the band have gone all in, recording two brand-new tracks in their second-hand clothes shop itself. They filmed and recorded the tracks in the round, surrounded by piles of vintage denim, while Sunday shoppers peered through the shop window. Having recently toured with Rival Sons, Creeping Jean are a band itching to get more music out into the world. With tons of new ideas, these two new singles are bound to appeal. Championed by BBC 6 Music’s Amy Lamé amongst others, Creeping Jean offer up huge indie-rock tunes to get you on the dance floor.
Frontman Olly Tooze states:
“We’re really excited to be putting out these spicy new tracks for Record Store Day. Being a high-street band, we love doing something special to highlight the importance of your local record shop. These were recorded around the corner from our local Resident Music, Brighton.”
This orange 7” single features two brand-new songs and will be available with a signed poster in a numbered, limited run of 300. A download code will be included with the vinyl release.
“Creeping Jean give ragged rock ‘n’ roll a fresh twist.” – Clash
“Talent, attitude, poise, and swagger. Check out the dynamism of their songwriting; their spacious but glam-inclined minglings of menace and melody.” – Kerrang
